Production / Industrialization Engineer
Product Development – Sweden - Timrå
Permobil is a globally leading provider of power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs and seating and positioning solutions, with a strong dedication to improve the quality of life for its users. The company’s strong portfolio of brands, competitive product offering, innovation capabilities and leading market positions provide a strong base to capture additional growth, both in existing and new markets. Our products are available today in 70 countries across four continents. Our turnover is more than 3 billion, and we have approximately 1600 employees. Since 2013, Permobil is a part of Investor AB.
We are looking for an Industrialization Engineer for our team in Timrå. Your key duties will be to represent Industrialization Engineering in product maintenance and product development projects where you will ensure that assembly of Permobil Power Products meets targets for producibility, cost efficiency and most importantly safety.
During product development you will cooperate with many different people and roles, e.g with the Development teams where you together develop a product that is Designed for Assembly (DFA), and with the Sourcing team so that purchased items are optimized for Production Units’ core competence and are similar across the product range.
Industrialization Engineering also has a key role for transferring product knowledge from the Design team to the Production Units. Once a design is agreed upon, you will be responsible for specifying the assembly methods which you will then use to train key staff at production units (“Train the Trainer”).
Continuous improvement through establishment of a standard and making incremental improvements is a key aspect of the Permobil Production System, and we are constantly improving our way of working within Industrialization Engineering as well. Your duties will be to develop, document and establish new processes and work instructions for the Industrialization Engineering department while making sure they comply with the main processes of the Permobil Power Products Quality Management System.
We believe that you have work experience from Production Engineering and would like to use your skills to develop products optimized to fit an existing production assembly flow instead of changing production every time a new product is about to be launched.
You can take on a lead role in the work that needs to be done rather than waiting for someone else to show the way forward. You bring ideas and solutions, not just problem statements.
You have a university degree within engineering or equivalent education along with experience of flow line production set-ups and processes - how they are created, adjusted and optimized for a certain production line. You do this with Lean production theories in mind.
To be successful in this position we believe that you can analyze multiple inputs and follow a logical decision-making process to reach a valid conclusion. You should also be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and rational manner.
In this role you will get the opportunity to work in a truly international environment. The position is based in Timrå but will include some travelling to our production sites in Shanghai, China and Nashville, US.
Permobil is a growing company with the goal of making a difference for people with disabilities in their everyday life.
